The Terra Organics Story

Planting the seeds.

Dan and Kim Hulse, owners of Terra Organics, met while working on an organic farm in Puyallup, Washington.

Dan’s job in the operations department of a regional organic produce distribution company ignited a curiosity about the origin of the food they sold. Kim was drawn to the farm by a passion for the food, the land and the culture of organic farming.

Finding Common Ground.

As Dan and Kim worked together, they began to craft a vision for an organic produce business that would combine the best aspects of the Consumer Supported Agriculture (CSA) model with the best practices in produce distribution to provide customers with the highest quality produce possible.

Terra Organics was born, and somewhere along the way they also decided to get married.

Taking root.

Terra Organics began as a picked-to-order organic produce delivery service run from leased land in Enumclaw. A list of available produce was sent to customers each week and orders were often harvested the same day that deliveries were made.

Cultivating Relationships.

By working directly with local producers, Terra Organics has been able to offer an excellent variety of fruits and vegetables, always of the highest quality. In exchange, farmers in the region are given better-than-wholesale prices and consistent demand from a buyer that understands the needs of family farms.

Dan and Kim purchased an old dairy farm south of the town of Orting in 2009.  Tahoma Farms began operations in April and the majority of the food now distributed through Terra Organics comes from the farm.  The Hulse's passion for healthy eating and organic farming fuels their drive to provide customers with good food from healthy farms.
